In 2002 an eight year old Holly made a valiant attempt at a Mother’s Day present. In 2018 a twenty-four year old Holly re-made the exact same piece including the miscounts and the poorly spaced lettering.
It’s a lot of fun as an adult to remake childhood art works and with greater skill…or at least greater fine motor skills, recapture the playfulness of having no obligations. Just a sense of adventure, some kiwi ingenuity, and a can-do attitude.
On Tom Bawcock’s Eve in Mousehole (Cornwall, England) is celebrated with a Starry Gazey Pie!
Mousehole (pronounced mowzel) on the 23rd of December celebrate the mythical fisherman Tom Bawcock who during a famine sailed out into a storm to catch fish to feed the village. The light display in the Mousehole harbour symbolises the lanterns and candles the villagers lit to guide Tom Bawcock home safely.
Some studies drawing from the paintings at…maybe the National Portrait Gallery? It was in London by Trafalgar Square anyway.
